Job interview don'tsWhether you’re unemployed right now, or you’re looking for a side part time job, you all know that you’re going to have to go through that interview process.  Who wants to hire someone, when they don’t talk to them first?  If you have an interview lined up in the future, here are some things that you shouldn’t do.

Don’t be late when showing up - If you have an appointment at 10 in the morning, don’t show up at 10:05, or even 10:20.  Instead, it’s great to show up at least ten to twenty minutes early.  You don’t want to look too desperate and show up two hours early.  If you get to your destination too early, sit in the parking lot, until about 10-15 minutes before your interview starts.

Don’t dress like you woke up - No matter what kind of job you’re applying for, you want to dress for impress.  Now, I know you won’t want to wear a $300 suit to a McDonald’s interview, but you know how to dress according to your potential job.  I always advise that you weak a nice pair or khakis, with a button down shirt, and a tie as an optional matter.  Once again, it revolves around the job you’re looking at.

Don’t give one word answers - You’re at an interview to give answers, and if the employer finds that you just keep answering with “yes” and “no”, you’re not going to get far.  Instead, you want to be creative with your answers, and let them know what you really think.

Always give eye contact - If you can practice one thing with social interactions, it would be eye contact.  When someone is talking to you, you don’t want to drift off into space, and you don’t want to stare at the floor.  This is either a sign of not caring, or being too shy.  It’s okay to be shy, but at least give eye contact, because you’re not going to be hurting anyone by doing so.

Don’t ask stupid questions - If this is your first interview, don’t start asking about money, and benefits.  Instead, you’ll want to leave this up to your hiring manager, when it’s time to bring you on board.

Job interviews happen everyday, and if you want to stand out above the rest, at least implement these tips.  By doing so, you’ll find yourself giving you the upper hand above many of the other potential candidates.
