The market is rough in 2009 is tough and everyone knows that but no matter how tough the market is, there will always be jobs out there. Will you be qualified for them? You could be. Let me tell you this that right now if you have a talent, you’ll have a job. The people without a job are those that don’t have a college education or don’t have a skill set. You need a skill set in today’s world if you want to get far in terms of payment and job security.
If you’re in the market to find a job today in order to pay the bills, there are many things you can do right now that you probably haven’t done so far:
Find a headhunter: These services are a great way to get your name out there. Most of them have connections with bigger companies and they can find jobs that fit your criteria. Set up a meeting with one of them to see if they can find a job for you.
Always remain positive: It’s hard to look for a job when you turn on the TV or read the paper. Instead, how about your turn off the media and do a search. Just last week, I did a search for a job I could qualify for and over 100 posting popped up within 25 miles. That’s a pretty good number, right? It’s a lot better than 0! You have to remain positive and keep your job hunting process on track.
Start linking with others: If you haven’t done so already, I would recommend you join communities like Facebook and LinkedIn. These are great services that you can use for free where you can meet with other professionals and network.
Re-write your resume: A lot of companies today use software to find the right person for the job. If you don’t have the right keywords on your resume, it may just get tossed in the trashcan. Look for ways to re-write your resume.
Blast your resume: Try and post your resume on as many websites as possible. Remember, there are people out there that are hiring all the time and are looking for qualified people. Sites like ResumeRabbit will post your resume to over 75+ sites for a fee.
When you’re on the hunt for a job, keep your head up high and never give up. There are jobs everywhere and yes, there is a job out there that’s built just for you. Set aside a few hours a day and search for that job.
