Today every consumer is mindful of the crunch in the pocket book because of our failing economy. Shopping is no longer considered a pleasure but a very important job in the average household. The consumer needs to be able to cut back on the budget and still keep good wholesome food on the table. The consumer realizes that food is not the only necessity when shopping that now clothing, gasoline for the vehicle and other major purchases must be made carefully.
The consumer finds that when shopping for food it is a good time to help keep money in the pocket by using coupons that are clipped from the newspaper, sent in the mail or found in the store. The average consumer shops on double coupon day, saves the sales receipt along with the UPC label to send off for the cash rebates and watches the different super markets for specials. In doing this type of grocery shopping the consumer can save on the budget putting money in the pocket for other necessities.
The use of the vehicle is very important for the whole family. Many places are too far away to walk and it is not always possible to car pool. The average family fined that they should make every trip count in order to save on fuel. Usually shopping, dropping off of family members and other errands are done in one trip instead of making multiple trips. It is much easier for someone to wait instead of burning the extra gas. The price of gas keeps getting higher and the consumer cannot prevent this but they can save on the amount of trips made, keeping the car well maintained, and using the proper amount of air in the tires. The family is fully aware of the cost of using the vehicle so everyone does their share in trying to cut back on trips or use car pooling when necessary. There are some service stations that are issuing a gas credit card where you can earn points for so much money spent on gas that can be used later to get more gas. In order to keep money in the pocket these techniques are being adopted by many consumers.
When it comes to making major purchases like appliances, computers, home accessories etc. the family usually shops around before making a decision. The internet is frequently used to find stores that are offering rebates from the manufacturer and often many of these purchases are made online. The savings is better and the idea of getting money back is appealing. This is another way to put cash back in the pocket book. When you shop the way it counts you are better able to keep money in the pocket!
