We all need a place to live in our lives and when it comes to bad credit, you may find it harder to find a place compared to someone with great credit.  Even if you have bad credit, there are still some things that you can do so you don’t find yourself living on the streets next week.

Find a co-signer

The first thing that you want to check for is a co-signer.  If you can find one with good credit, you’re going to increase your chances of getting a place.  You have to keep in mind though that many people may not co-sign because they will be held responsible if you don’t pay your bills and it will effect their credit.  Great places to look for a co-signer are by asking friends and relatives.

Find someone to live with you

This works just like a co-signer but you have someone to live with you.  It’s always great to have someone live with you because you’ll be able to split the bills in half.  Not only are you going to have someone to live with, you’ll have a greater chance of getting approved since there will be 2 incomes rather than 1.

Pay a few months ahead of time

If you have an emergency fund or some money set aside, many apartments and homes will consider you if you put down a few months ahead of time.  If your rent is going to be $700 a month, then $2000 will be a nice deposit for the complex.  If you don’t have the money, don’t worry because there are many other options that you can take.

Check out rental websites

With the power of the Internet, there are many great places to check online for rooms for bad credit, etc.  A great place to start is by checking Craigslist.  This site is a classified based site that has literally everything.  Find your city and see what’s available when it comes to a room.

Find someone that doesn’t use a credit check

There are landlords out there that don’t do a credit check but beware that if you don’t pay your monthly bill, they are going to kick you to the curb fast.  If the landlord doesn’t do a credit check, you’re most likely going to have to pay month to month and can be evicted at anytime since you won’t sign a long term deal.

Renting a place can be done no matter what kind of credit you have.  The most important thing to remember in the long run is that you have a job.  As long as you’re bringing in an income, you should be able to find a place to live.
