How to Save Money on your Electric Bill
posted by FindSecuredCards.comNo matter where you live or what you do, I guarantee you have some sort of electric bill (unless you live in the dark). If you’re anything like me, you want to save money as much as possible and yes, there are plenty of ways to save on your electric bill. Let’s explore some of the ideas and ways.
Get a programmable thermostat
If you have air conditioning, you hopefully realize it uses electricity. If you don’t already have a programmable thermostat, I would highly recommend you look into getting one. Set the temperatures up high in the summers and low in the winters when you’re not home. This way, you’re not wasting any electricity.
Turn off everything when you go to bed
When it’s bedtime, make it a habit to shut down everything that’s on. Everything from the lights to the computer. Shutting things down 100% can save you a lot of money, you’ll be amazed. You have to think about it this way in that you sleep at least 7-8 hours a night and if you run a computer or leave a light on, that’s 8 hours multiplied by 30 days that equates to 240 of unused electricity!
Take shorter showers
The longer the showers you take, the more you’re going to use electricity wise to heat your water. Another great thing to do as well is to adjust your water heater temperature. The lower you set it, the more you’re going to save in the long run.
Buy energy efficient devices
If you’re using an older based light bulb or your appliances are even older, you may want to think about upgrading all of these appliances and fixtures. Doing this alone can cut your bill down greatly. When buying new appliances, look for the “energy star” logo.
Shut doors – close vents
If you have a bigger house, the chances of you using the rooms all day are pretty slim. Look at your daily routine and try to see where you spend most of your time. If you spend a lot in your office or living room, shut the vents off in the bedroom as well as shutting the doors. This will make it easier to cool down the house as well as heat it.
These are just some of the tips that you can use in order to save on your electric bill. Look at your appliances and look at how you heat and cool down your house. By cutting back on a few of these things, you can see a pretty big difference.
