With our monthly bills coming in every month we are always looking for ways to pay less and save more money.  A common bill that most people hate paying for is their electric bill, simply because it can be very expensive.  If you’re looking for ways to slash that bill in half and start saving today, continue reading below to find out how to do so.

Unplug – First of all, you’re going to want to unplug all the items that you’re not using.  Simple things like your TV, a cell phone that is charging, and computers still run a little bit of electricity without you even knowing.  So when you’re done with something, I recommend that you just unplug it to make sure it’s not getting electricity and raising your bill.

Water heater – Our water heater does exactly what the name says, heats our water.  Although who needs heated water 24/7?  Turn off your water heater if you’re not using it.  Only turn it on when you run the dishwasher, are washing clothes, or are about to take a shower.  No one needs it on when they’re sleeping.

Compare – You should always compare companies with their prices.  You don’t want to be paying more than you have to if you get the same service.  So, shop around, and if the company you’re dealing with seems too expensive, threaten that you’re going to go with someone else.

Notice – You should really try to notice how much electricity you’re using.  You will find that you leave lights on by accident, leave the computer running all day, and the TV on while you’re sleeping.  If you stop using electricity that you don’t need, you’ll be much better off!

Lowering your electric bill is something that you should really look into.  Try to change your old habits if it’s currently too high, and come up with ways to be more efficient.  To start, use a couple of these ideas to see a difference!
