Are you on a tight budget? Did you currently loose your job, and now you have to find a way to make ends meet? If so, you’re not alone. Thousands of people are loosing their job, getting a pay cut, and are in worse situations than they were once before. If you’re looking for ways to stay within your budget but still eat a healthy diet, continue reading below for ways on how to do so.
Just because we’re more strapped for cash doesn’t mean we should turn to fast food because it’s “cheap”, actually it’s more expensive than eating at home.
Grocery shop – Try going grocery shopping once per week. Set a budget and only bring cash into the stores. Now lets say you only want to spend $30 per week. Hit up the produce (it’s extremely cheap). Getting things like potatoes, lettuce, and fruits and vegetables is a great way to eat healthy for a cheap price. Now, get a few things of meat that will feed your for the week, along with cheaper things like soup.
- Coupons – Now when you go grocery shopping, you want to make sure you are using coupons. Look at the Sunday paper, and clip coupons, they will save you a bundle over time!
- Compare – Don’t settle for a grocery store that has high prices just because it has a close and convenient location. Compare grocery stores for the week and see who has the best deals.
- Sales – Only buy things that are on sale. There are so many options at a grocery store so it is really unnecessary to buy something that isn’t on sale.
$1 sides – Also, there are places like McDonalds that can fill you up for just a few bucks. You can get $1 side salads, fruit salads, and a few other healthy sides. Consider these for a small meal they are such a good price.
Skip going out to dinner – Skip going to dinner at a sit down restaurant. At these you will be over your budget, and you will have to leave a tip which takes away from your grocery money.
It is very possible to eat healthy when on a tight budget. If you want to remain in good health, don’t settle for the $1 double cheeseburger, the curly fries, or the 700 calorie chicken tenders. Instead, consider a few of these ideas above!
