When we open up a credit card when we’re younger we’re not all that disciplined and sure how to use them wisely. We may have maxed out our card, not realized how interest rates can affect us so badly and we may now be looking for ways to improve our score.
If you have a low credit score you’re not alone! There are millions of people with a bad credit score and there is hope for you! For tips on how to improve your score as soon as possible, continue reading below!
Credit Score Raising Tips:
Date: First of all, you need to make it clear to yourself when your payment is due. Is it the 1st of the month, the last day of the month or in the middle? Figure this number out so you don’t miss any payments! Last payments or no payments are all really affect a score negatively!
On time: You have to pay your bills on time. If you don’t you will result with a bad credit score. So, do what you need to do, write notes, send text reminders or write it on your calender to make sure you don’t miss a date!
Pay off: If your credit card has a lot of debt on it, pay it off! The less debt you have the better your score will be. People aren’t going to want to lend you money if they know you have a lot of debt. This is very true for trying to get a loan on something like a car or house. Pay off your debt as soon as possible!
Limit: Limit the amount of credit cards you open. If you have more than 3 I suggest you don’t open anymore. The more credit cards you have open the more debt you can rack up and the more trouble you’ll be in later!
Age: A lot of people don’t realize that age is a huge part in what your credit score will be. If you’re 30 and have only had a credit card for 3 months you will most likely have a low score since you haven’t had time to prove your responsibility. Same goes for someone that is 18 or 60.
Sometimes books and reading further into the things we want to know about can help us. Fortunately there are several great books on the market to consider reading. Check out the top-selling debt books on the market!
Improving a bad credit score takes time! I can’t be done overnight, but if you consider these tips above you can definitely raise it over time. Be smart, spend wisely and pay off any debt you have in the meantime.
