Whether you’re tight on money or you’re just looking to save on money, there are so many ways to save money but let’s focus on where you can save money the most and that’s in the kitchen and your grocery bill.  There are so many ways to save when it comes to groceries, it’s your responsibility to put yourself into action and start saving today.  Here’s how you can do it –

Don’t spend more than $125 – The USDA suggests that if you have a family of four, you shouldn’t spend more than $125.  This means that if you’re spending more than this right now, you’re spending too much!  Right away, there are some ways to save such as using coupons, buying things only on sale, etc.

Don’t buy just brand names – You’ll realize that your local grocery store always has no name brands on sale.  Most people are used to particular brands or they simply buy brands because they have heard of them.  If you’re a “brand” shopper, try and start the no name brands.  I can guarantee you they are just as good and will cost you half the money.  Even if you don’t like them, at least you can tell yourself that you’ve tried.

Coupons are a must- Before I started using coupons, I would spend $100 for just 2 people.  I then soon realized that there are many websites out there that will help you save money such as CouponMom.com and TheGroceryGame.com.  Both of these websites will tell you what items are on sale at your local grocery store and what coupon you can use on top of the sale.  Ever since I’ve used sites like these, I’ve saved well over 50% on my grocery bill.

Cut back on eating out – If you have a family of four and you eat out often at $10 a person, this is going to add up fast.  If you stay under the $100 budget, you’re going to be able to buy all of your groceries after eating out twice.  Now, I’m not saying you shouldn’t eat out at all, just try and cut back on it.

When it comes time to saving on  your grocery bill, make sure that you plan ahead of time.  Never shop when you’re hungry because you’re going to buy more than what you need!  Remember, it’s not hard to save.   Just buy what you need and if you have to, bring cash in only and avoid the credit cards.
