When you think of a credit card, and you mix the words debt, and credit card together, you probably instantly open up your mouth, and say something along the lines of, “If you’re using a credit card, you’ll never be able to get out of debt.”  While this is 99% true, I wanted to showcase to you today on how you can manage your budget better than before, and I wanted to let you come into my life, and show you just how I’m able to manage my budget.

First, let me give you a background on myself.  Right now, I’m almost 30, and I was like most of America.  I was struggling to get by.  I was paying bills, and living paycheck to paycheck.  It absolutely sucked to see a few hundred dollars (if that) in my bank account.  I was sick of it, and like any other person that gets out of debt, I took action.  Honestly, all it takes is action, and money.  Those 2 are the perfect mix.

One of the main reasons that I got out of debt was because of my budget, and one of the ways on how I controlled my spending was simply by using a prepaid credit card, and let me tell you why you should consider one for your budget…

You can never go over your budget, its impossible!

Let’s say that you work out your budget, and you want to only spend $500 for the month.  With your card, you will simply transfer $500 from your bank account, and onto your card.  From there, once your $500 runs out for the month, you won’t be able to use your card anymore.  This is a great sign on when you’ve spent too much money for the month.  If you want to be like me, carry only your prepaid credit card, and that’s it in your wallet!  This way, you won’t be tempted to spend another penny.

How can I find the best card?

Look at the fee structure: Some cards have fees, and yes, it stinks, but you don’t have to pay them.  A majority of the cards will allow you to bypass the fees if you set up direct deposit.  Look for this in a card when you’re ready to apply.

Grab a major logo: When you want to get a card like this, make sure that you get a card that has a major logo from companies such as Visa, Mastercard, etc.  If you don’t, you will find that you won’t be able to use it at many locations.

Look for rewards: The last thing that you want to do is look for rewards.  Yes, these cards have rewards.  I did some searching with my card, and found that my card actually gave me interest on my deposit.  So, not only did I have a great way to control my budget, I also was collecting money on my money.

The next time you find yourself spending too much for the month, consider a prepaid card, and you’ll never spend too much for the month again!
