Saving on grocery billEveryone and their families have to eat and whether you eat out everyday (let’s hope not!) or you buy your groceries weekly, there are so many ways that you can save when it comes down to buying food for you and your family.  There should never be a reason that you pay full price for groceries again.

Always buy on sale

When it comes to buying anything in the store, you have to buy on sale.  I don’t care if you’re brand loyal, you have to get rid of that habit.  It’s important that you buy your items on sale.  This way, you’ll be able to save off the regular price.  Just by doing this alone, you can see a 30-40% off discount, easily!

Try online saving websites

The thing I like about the Internet is that I’m able to find so many websites that help me save with coupons.  With great online sites like CouponMom.com and TheGroceryGame.com, they do the dirty work for you to show you what coupons to use and what’s on sale.  When you apply a coupon on top of a sale price, you can save a lot of money.  Make sure that you get the Sunday paper to take advantage of the coupons.

Look for the discounts and coupons

Coupons can be your best friend.  I don’t know how many times I’ve opened up my coupon book and have found $2-$10 off coupons.  You’ll be surprised at what some companies will give you off.  It never hurts to see if there’s some sort of discount.   Never just assume that the item you’re buying doesn’t have a coupon.

Get simple with your foods

When you buy simple items like bread, eggs, rice and beans, you can make some really great meals for a very low price.  All of these items alone will only cost you a few simple dollars and the meals that you can create are pretty much endless.

Shop when you’re full

Studies obviously will show you that when you’re hungry, you want to buy everything!  The next time you go out grocery shopping, make sure that you have ate something before hand.  This way, when you stroll down those aisles, you won’t want to throw everything in the cart.

Know how the marketing game works

Marketers know how you and your spending habits work.  The next time you’re in the grocery store, look toward the bottom of each shelf.  You’ll notice that the cheaper items are near the floor.  Why?  Most people are too lazy to bend over and pick up that item.  Most purchasers like the items between their knees and shoulders.  The lesson here is to scan the shelving over as you go.

Using these tips alone can save you hundreds per month.  When you want to save, you’ll notice the savings on your monthly grocery statements, if you keep track.  Try some of these techniques and I can almost assure you that you’ll save at least 50%.
