Blocking Debt Collector Phone Numbers
posted by FindSecuredCards.com
If you’re in debt, and you’re getting harassing calls from a debt collector, and it’s coming from the same number, you may want to look into blocking their number, only if they don’t listen to you, when it comes to the harassment. There are many ways to block a number, depending on your phone carrier, etc, but here are some tips you can try.
Call up your phone company
The first thing that you’ll want to do is call up your phone company. Ask them if you can block numbers, and how it can be done. Some companies will let you do it, while others don’t have the technology to do so.
Put your ring tone on silent
This is a cheap, yet effective way. If you use a cell phone, simply program the number that’s calling you, and create a ring tone that’s silent. Whenever that number calls you, you’re not going to hear your phone ring. This is probably the cheapest, and easiest way to go.
Try online services for free
Services like Spoofcard are amazing when it comes to technology. If you want to call the debt collector, don’t use your real phone number, but spoof it! You can call from your own phone, but you can make their called ID show up with whatever you want. You can also use this service to block unwanted calls as well. They have packages that will cost nothing to you.
You may find that no matter what you do, they are going to call from another number. Sadly, if it gets out of hand, you may want to contact the FTC, or you may want to simply get a new phone number. It sounds like a pain in the butt, but this is sometimes the only way you can go.
