Being Sued Over Old Credit Card Debt
posted by FindSecuredCards.comHave you recieved a summons lately or you’re currently being sued over old credit card debt? If so, don’t you worry because I’m going to show you some tips on how you can beat those deat beat collectors and tips you can use in order to fight them off.
The first thing I want to tell you is that 99% of the time, when you’re being sued over bad credit that’s old, the chances are it was passed off to some slimy firm that’s looking to milk off your dollar. Most companies will pass this onto them because they simply won’t want to deal with it. Most of the time they will get your debt for pennies on the dollar. So, let’s say if you were in debt for $1,000, the company may just sell it off for $50. They would rather have something than nothing figuring you’d never pay it.
This is why when you start to get harassed by them, they are willing to take anything. Look at this way, if they take $500 off that $1,000 and they bought it for $50, they are still making a nice $450 profit. Look folks, these firms are making millions off your old mistakes!
If you’re fighting off a summons at this very moment, you’re probably going to have to end up in court eventually. The thing you must do is SHOW UP. So many people don’t show up and this works to the third parties favor! When the person in debt simply doesn’t show up, the court system may put a lein or take money out of your paycheck weekly. This is why it’s important to show up regardless of the situation and debt.
When you do receive that summons in the mail, you will generally have 20 days to respond to it by certified mail. If you haven’t done so already or you may expect it in the future, make sure you respond to this as well. If you don’t, you can be in a world of hurt because as I mentioned above, this gives them the green light to take action against you where they can even hurt your finances even more.
I know it sounds simple but the simple solution to fight this debt is to fight. A huge majority of people don’t fight back on this debt allowing the creditors to simply attack your own finances because you simply don’t respond with an answer or show up. The minority who generally fight off this debt always manage to win because they are in the “minority”.
If you can fight off your debt and avoid legal fees, I promise you that 99% of the time, you’re going to walk away from old credit card debt. This debt is generally not a lot anyways and the creditors would much rather prey on the weak who don’t respond because obviously this is who they make money off of. All you need to remember is this simple word… FIGHT and you’ll be just fine.
