Getting bank account with bad creditBad credit can effect a lot of things in life.  Everything from our bank accounts to renting a house.  It may seem hard to get back on your feet but when you look into the future, it’s not that hard at all as long as you remain optimistic and work toward fighting off your debt.

Today, let’s take a look at how we can sign up for a bank account even when you have bad credit.  Opening a bank account in my opinion is one of the easier things to do since all you need to do is provide the bank with a deposit most of the time.

Check with Chexsystems

The first thing you want to do is check your chexsystems report.  This is a report that banks look at when you open up an account.  It will show them if you have had any negative experiences with a bank in the past.  If you have had a negative experience, this report is important.  If you have always been in good standing with a bank, you may not need to get this report.  Head to this website to get your report.

Consider a credit union first

If you plan on opening an account with a major corporate bank, you may want to look into a credit union before you do.  A credit union is going to be more relaxed than a corporate bank.  It never hurts to try your first bank of choice but if all else fails, you may want to resort to a credit union.

Look at the restrictions

Many banks today have restrictions when it comes to opening up a checking and savings account.   Things like a minimum balance or minimum opening deposit.  Most of them will want anywhere from a few dollars to as much as a couple hundred dollars.  Make sure that you know how much you’re going to need in order to open up the account and make sure that you have it.

Keep your account in good standing

Once you find a bank account and I’m sure you will as long as you do your homework, you’ll want to keep it in good standing.  Make sure that you keep the minimum balance in your account and never overdraft on your account as well.  If you can accomplish this, you will remain in good standing with the bank.

If you don’t have a bank account right now, it’s important that you get one.  It’s going to be safer and you’re going to get money on your money with interest.  Do your homework and find the best bank account that works for your needs.
