Use the internet to your power

Whenever you buy something online, I hope you do your research.  Let’s say you want to buy a DVD player.  Use comparison sites like PriceGrabber.com that will compare the product for you.  A site like this will show you a few retailers and what their price is.  Compare the prices and make sure you always get the best price.

Always use coupons

Always get in the habit of using coupons.  Whether you’re using them online, at the grocery store or anywhere else, try and and make it necessary to buy the item with a coupon.  A great tip to use is whenever you buy something online is that you search for an online code before you buy it.  Let’s say you want to buy something from Best Buy.  Before you do, simply Google “Best Buy coupon codes” and see what pops up.

Switch up your credit cards

If you’re in debt right now, try and call up the credit card companies to see if they can lower your rate.  Just by lowering a rate by a percent can save you hundreds a year depending on how much debt you have.  Many people just pay the bill and didn’t know you can negotiate with the credit card companies.

Look at your bills today

Start up Excel or grab a piece of paper.  Write down every dollar you have spent in the last 6 months when it comes to bills.  Let’s think of the Internet, Cable, Satellite radio, etc.  See what you can drop or things you can cut back on.  Are you subscribing to 100 extra channels for $40 extra a month?  Do you really need these channels.  Start cutting back and save money each month.

Create a budget now

Do you know where you money is going each month?  I bet you don’t.  In fact, over 90% of Americans don’t know where their money is going.  If you’re serious about your money, start up a budget and stick to it.  If you can’t stick to it, start using cash only and cut up your credit cards.

Look at your services

Do you currently have any services like a maid, gardener, etc?  It may be time to sit back and see what you can do by yourself.  Labor isn’t cheap and when you pay for a maid, the labor costs are generally 90% of the bill.  It may be time to do it yourself and save all of that money.

I could go on and on with ways on how you can save money.  It’s your job to be disciplined and it’s also your job to take action.  If you’re serious about saving money, you’ll find ways to save it.  Use some of these ideas above and start saving money today.
