Ah, you read that title, and think to yourself, “How great would that be?”  I could be out of debt forever, and I would never have to worry about another call, or credit card bill again.  While it sounds great, it can happen, and I’m going to give you a few tips that you can use in order to fight that debt for good!

Say no to debt for good

Instead of using a credit card, resort to your debit card, or use a prepaid card.  This way, you’re going to be able to spend what you have.  Just like a gift card, you’re only going to be able to spend what’s on the card.  The same will work with a prepaid card, and debit card.  Since it’s linked to your bank account, or deposit, you can’t go over the balance, which is good for you.

Write out a budget

If you don’t have a budget, you’re not going to know where you’re money is going.  Right now, I want you to write out a budget, and know where each, and every dollar is going every month.  This way, you’re not going to be surprised with bills, and it will allow you to save money a lot easier.

Get those credit card rates down

Did you know that you can negotiate with the credit card companies?  Call them up, and ask them for a lower rate, and see what they can do for you.  If they don’t give you that lower rate, try applying for newer cards, or if they do, every percent can save you hundreds over the years.

Don’t stop now

Once your debt is paid off, keep the pattern going.  Instead of resorting to old habits like people do with weight loss, continue to keep this up.  Sooner or later, you’ll find that you’ve made a habit, and you’ll never know what the word “debt’ means again!

Blocking a debt collector numberIf you’re in debt, and you’re getting harassing calls from a debt collector, and it’s coming from the same number, you may want to look into blocking their number, only if they don’t listen to you, when it comes to the harassment.  There are many ways to block a number, depending on your phone carrier, etc, but here are some tips you can try.

Call up your phone company

The first thing that you’ll want to do is call up your phone company.  Ask them if you can block numbers, and how it can be done.  Some companies will let you do it, while others don’t have the technology to do so.

Put your ring tone on silent

This is a cheap, yet effective way.  If you use a cell phone, simply program the number that’s calling you, and create a ring tone that’s silent.  Whenever that number calls you, you’re not going to hear your phone ring.  This is probably the cheapest, and easiest way to go.

Try online services for free

Services like Spoofcard are amazing when it comes to technology.  If you want to call the debt collector, don’t use your real phone number, but spoof it!   You can call from your own phone, but you can make their called ID show up with whatever you want.  You can also use this service to block unwanted calls as well.  They have packages that will cost nothing to you.

You may find that no matter what you do, they are going to call from another number.  Sadly, if it gets out of hand, you may want to contact the FTC, or you may want to simply get a new phone number.  It sounds like a pain in the butt, but this is sometimes the only way you can go.

At home gymWhether you’re in debt, or you’re strapped on cash, sometimes bigger purchases make sense when it comes time to purchasing one.  For instance, today, I wanted to show you how the Bowflex can save you money over the next couple years, and yes, I know it’s a big purchase.

Know how the Bowflex works

First, if you don’t know how the Bowflex works, I wanted to give you a quick lowdown on how it works, and how you can benefit from it.  The Bowflex is basically a home gym built into one that you can use in the comfort of your own home.  With a few different models available, the prices can range from a  few hundred dollars to as much as a few thousand.

The Bowflex allows you to do over 30 strength exercises.  Not only that, it includes a horizontal bench press, and a lat pull down.  It also comes equipped with sliding seat rails, and provides as much as 210 pounds of resistance via the Bowflex power rods.

How can this save me money?

You’re probably wondering how this can save you money.  You have to first look at it like this.  If you’re currently going to the gym, let’s say that you’re paying $30 a month, and you’re bringing your spouse as well.  That’s a total of $60 a month.  If you go for the whole year, you’re spending $720!  You can see that it adds up fairly fast.

If you purchase a nice machine for let’s say, $1,000, you can re coup that money after 1 and half years.  After that 1 and half years, you can be technically going to the gym for free.

Now, you’re probably saying that it isnt’ the same, but working out at home has it’s upsides, and downsides.  Sure, it’s nice to get out of the home here and there, but it’s also nice to save money.  If your game is saving money, I would heavily consider getting an at home gym.

vWe all know how easy it is to spend money at the grocery store.  All we have to do is find something that looks good, go when we’re hungry, and bring a credit card, and we know we’re already in trouble.  Although, there are tricky traps that grocery stores often have!  They do certain things to get your money, and they tend to work pretty well.  How can you stop falling for their tricks, and start saving money?  Continue reading below to see how you may be fooled.

Back of the store - First of all, most of us go to the grocery store to get the basic things like milk, eggs, etc.  Ever notice that all of these are in the back of the store?  That means they want you to pass all the other food, in hopes that they can get more money from you!  So, if you want the basic things, don’t get distracted by what’s on display, or in the center isle.  Instead, focus, and only leave with what you came there for.

“Good deals” – Grocery stores also like to make “not so good deals” sound much better.  We tend to look for all the sales tags, and usually buy what has a tag.  Although, you ever look at the price?  Sometimes it’s just a few cents cheaper than the original price!

Displays - Also, grocery stores like to put things on display that aren’t on sale.  You automatically think that if it’s on display, it’s on sale.  Although, that’s not always the case, so watch out and read the price!

Checkout – So, you’re all done shopping, and have already done some damage.  Now, when you’re getting ready to check out, they want to slip in just a few more bucks.  You may need some gum, some candy, maybe a magazine to read, or a bottle of water that’s $1.50, when you can get a case fro $5.  The checkout is another trap, so avoid getting these items that add up!

If you’re looking to save more money at the grocery store, you first have to realize how they’re getting your money.  We always leave with more than we expected to.  So, avoid these traps, and try to save money in anyway you can.  Grocery shopping doesn’t have to be expensive!  Click here to find out how you can start saving money on groceries today!
